Who's On The Little Guys Side?

In the world of finance, conflicts are everywhere. For example, brokers make money each time you buy or sell a stock, so they make money each time you make a trade. Similarly, analysts, mutual fund managers, investment banks, all have a monetary interest in certain things happening, so they are all to some extent conflicted. With all these agendas and conflicts an individual investor might feel alone and vulnerable. Not if Peter Hodson has anything to say about it. Hodson is a former chairman of Sprott Asset Managment, where he worked directly with legendary Canadian investor Erik Sprott, a man who has a business school named after himself. Hodson is starting a new service, called 5i Research Inc., where he will provide analysis to individual investors for a small fee ( approx $100/year ). His plan is to keep costs low by publishing on the internet, and make money on volume. He was on BNN describing his new service:

My view is that the financial industry is full of sharks and hustlers. Money is their game and they know how to play it, so you have to be careful who you trust. Peter Hodson has shown his trustfulness in his articles and TV appearances. Also, in the world of money, there is no free lunch. If you want something of value you should be willing to pay for it.
